Owners of electric vehicles can now take advantage of a home charging offer that equates to nearly two years of complimentary driving.
EDF energy is offering customers - new or existing - £300 if they sign up its Pod Point Plug & Power home charger and tariff bundle.
The £300 credit you receive equates to approximately 12,000 miles of electric driving, allowing you to enjoy almost two years of cost-free travel on the road.
Besides this discount, the cost savings achieved by charging an electric vehicle at home can significantly reduce the overall expenses associated with car ownership.
Charging at home already makes EVs cheaper to fuel per mile than petrol cars, but adopting smart charging, which the Pod Point charger offers, can boost home charging saving to more than £1,300 a year, a new study shows.
Rich Hughes, the retail director at EDF, stated: "By allowing customers to divide the cost of a charger over a two-year period, we simplify the management of what are usually significant initial expenses."
'Currently, by signing up, you can enjoy an extra £300 back, making the expenses even more affordable.'

The proposal features a Pod Point Solo 3S charger, available at a reduced initial price of £499 (regular price £1,099), with the balance of the charger’s cost distributed over a period of two years and included in the tariff.
The tariff, priced at £1,383 for electricity only, comes with cheaper overnight electricity at 8.49p per kWh from 12am to 5am for both driver's cars and homes.
What steps do I need to follow to register for the deal?
Customers are required to visit EDF's website, and after completing the sign-up process, EDF will pass on the information to Pod Point, allowing them to purchase the Solo 3S EV charger starting from £499.
After customers buy their charger and schedule an installation date, EDF will credit £300 to their account within 30 days.
The Solo 3S includes standard installation at no extra cost and is backed by a five-year warranty.
The Pod Point app enables users to control their home charging directly from their smartphone. This promotion is valid until January 31, 2025.

A new study conducted by Andersen EV, a provider of home chargers, revealed that electric vehicle (EV) drivers utilizing a smart charger could spend as little as £18 to travel 1,000 miles in a month. This is significantly lower than the £128 expense associated with refueling a traditional petrol vehicle.
A separate research conducted by the charge point mapping service ZapMap revealed that an average couple, who charge their electric vehicle (EV) at home for 80 percent of their usage and drive 10,000 miles annually, incurs a charging cost of only £660. In contrast, a driver of an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle spends £1,430 on fuel each year.
